After exploring the temples and nightspots of Kathmandu The
Oriental Caravan has now arrived in Lhasa,
the ancient capital of Tibet. |

Kathmandu was as lively and colourful as ever though due
to recent events the city could well be approaching a period of change. |

On our flight over the Himalayas (first class!) we
received views of some of the highest peaks in the world including Mts.
Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyu. |

Soon after our arrival we crossed the Yarlung Tsangpo
and visited the beautiful Samye Monastery, oldest in Tibet. |

its journey south to Gyangtse, Shigatse and Everest Base Camp before
recrossing the Himalayas by road to Kathmandu. |
