We have just returned
from a wonderful trip to Taiwan. Sam, our guide was delightful,
conscientious, knowledgeable, flexible and with good English. The
driver was also extremely pleasant and reliable, and the vehicle
most comfortable.

. The content of
the tour was wonderful! It was great to not have to rush anywhere
and to have time to explore places in more depth. I never felt that
we were in a hurry, and there were lots of opportunities for walks.
I felt that we had had a really good look around Taiwan and explored
the main areas worth visiting. It was a great trip and I thoroughly
enjoyed it - thanks.

I am at Taipei airport awaiting a flight home,
and so have the time to say how much I have enjoyed my "Oriental
Caravan" trip. It was excellently organised, the hotels were of a
superior quality, and the guide and driver were both thoughtful,
knowledgeable, and considerate.

We greatly enjoyed the tour. The fact that we
circumnavigated the island gave the trip a special character. We
feel like we now have more than a basic understanding of its land,
people, culture and history. (The fact that we had previously
traveled in mainland China probably helped us feel at ease from the
beginning.) Your website’s descriptions of its natural beauty,
friendly people and great food are not exaggerated! Overall the pace
was good. The sometimes-tedious long drives on the eastern side of
the island were worth it for the great scenery and the opportunity
to get into a more rural lifestyle. The overall quality of the
lodgings was outstanding, and in most cases they were very
conveniently located to the main tourist attractions. Some of the
lodgings were much more upscale than we would normally book on our
own, or have expected based on our Japan tour with you. That was a
special pleasure!

Thank
you so much for arranging a wonderful holiday for us. Because we a
were a small group during the whole trip there was no rush and very
relaxing and you had the chance to talk to every one of your fellow
travelling companions and got to know them better. The tour guide

Outstanding highlights were Taroko (which had the nicest
accommodation – what a perfect setting!) and Alishan, and I really
loved all the temples in Tainan. Longshan was also amazing – we went
four times and it was like a different temple each time. Alan {the
guide} was fabulous – nothing was too much trouble and he is just so
knowledgeable. Not just about his own country but the world in
general. I felt I learned so much about the history, geology and
flora and fauna of Taiwan and ne spent time with Kathy (helping her
identify birds and generally filling her I on them.. If you speak to
him do pass on our thanks. I really enjoyed Taiwan and am glad I
went."

"This is the fourth trip that I have
taken on The Oriental Caravan, it goes without saying that I'm a
satisfied customer. The fact is I've become a friend. As such, I
wanted to make some comments on our recent trip to
Taiwan. The trip itinerary was excellent and accommodations were
very good (at Sun Moon Lake - excellent).
I learned a lot; enjoyed the sights; did my best to accommodate the
food, and made some friends from South
Africa to boot. I'm a reasonably literate individual but never read
of or realized the number and variety of aboriginal tribes on
Taiwan. I really enjoyed this picture of Taiwan. As an American, I
just assumed the presence of Han Chinese who fled from the mainland
after 1949. I have a must deeper appreciation of the complexity of
the country and its history and customs.
Our leader/guide, Alan Chou, was
knowledgeable, friendly, helpful with a good sense of humor. Alan's
knowledge
of the history, culture(s), the language(s) and geography was
especially demonstrated. He also had a deft hand in the herding of
cats operation that characterizes travel and was a big part in
making this trip a successful experience. Please let Alan know that
both Rose and I appreciate his efforts as leader immensely. I
believe that I speak for most of the others when I say that Alan did
a very difficult job with the apparent ease of a real professional."
